This Sunday we are wrapping up the sermon series where we've reflected on Jesus' resurrection appearances and how they speak to our experiences. This Sunday, we reflect on Jesus' appearance to two of his followers and how those two shared their experience with the other disciples, and Jesus suddenly appears among their gathering.
Jesus wants his closest companions to be his witnesses, to tell what they have seen and experienced as they followed Jesus. In this final scene, in the gospel according to Luke, Jesus gives them a commission to tell the story, that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed, and ends by reminding them that they are witnesses to these things.
Jesus' charge to his followers, applies to us, his current-day followers, as well. We are to tell the story of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection; and tell the stories of what being a follower of Jesus means to us. We are to be witnesses, to tell what we have seen and experienced that others might come to experience Jesus' grace in their own lives.
I hope that you are staying safe, keeping connected with family, friends, people at the church, and finding ways (safely) to help those around you.
Yours in Christ,
