Buckhall Makes a Difference

The breadth of Buckhall's Outreach has expanded in recent years in an effort to have a greater impact in our local, national and international communities.  Our congregation has always been extremely generous in giving of their personal time and talent to many religious, social service and charitable organizations all of which have differing missions and objectives.  In order to reflect this diversity and magnitude, we have established a multifaceted approach towards outreach.

Over the last year, Buckhall has been making a difference in our community and world.  We are proud and excited to share some of our accomplishments:

  • Elementary school kits assembled for the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR)
  • Over 200 birthing kits were also assembled and shipped to UMCOR
  • Three full car loads of winter clothing for Rising Hope, a United Methodist Mission Church in Alexandria
  • Partnership with Prosperity House to provide transitional housing to a young homeless mother and her child
  • Our Mission tree benefits Rising Hope UMC and the Shade and Fresh Water program in Brazil
  • With the help of our community, we made 500 sandwiches for homeless organizations, improved one of the Prosperity House properties, and collect litter in the neighborhood
  • Homeless Ministry: following the footstep of one of our Veterans, we are very involved in directly working with local homeless families
  • Assembly of homeless care kits for distribution to shelters and directly to individuals: Our goal is for every member of the congregation to keep a homeless kit in their car
  • Organized very successful food drives to SERVE (over 10,000 pounds of food per year)
  • Annual Youth Mission Trips to help communities in need
  • Community Life Workshops to provide information to families in the neighborhood
  • Hymn Sing to the Quarry Station Senior apartments to sing hymns with the residents
  • Our facilities are always open and welcome a number of organizations such as Boy & Girl Scouts, 4H club, three AA groups, Al-Anon, Narcotics anonymous, and Compassionate Friends
