March 9, 2019
We are in the season of Lent. Lent is a season that precedes Easter. It is a season of preparing our hearts to receive Jesus Christ into our lives once again. We often engage in practices that can help us to have a closer relationship with God; like prayer, worship, receiving Holy Communion, and a study. I hope that you are intentional about what you do, think, how you care for others, and the amount you consume. Ask yourself, “How will my actions honor God, be a blessing to God’s creation, and reflect God’s unconditional love to others?”
This past Sunday, we made available a list of suggestions of what you might do, each day, to help you place God at the forefront of your heart and mind. There are extra copies available in the sanctuary.
The sermon series for Lent is “Return to Me With All Your Heart.” These are words spoken by God, in the book of Joel, as God desires the people of Israel to return their straying hearts back to God. These are words that God is speaking to all of us, as we have a tendency to place our minds, hearts, and actions on things other than God. Yet, there is grace and hope and our Lenten journey will reveal those to us, as we seek that deeper relationship with God.
Please remember to turn your clocks ahead. Yes, I know, it means you will lose an hour’s sleep. There is good news though, you will be in good company.
On another note: On Sunday, March 24, 2019 at 10:00am in the Gathering Room, we will begin a book study on “Love Does” by Bob Goff; “In the book we explore the kind of love that doesn’t stop at thoughts and feelings - but is love that takes action.” The study will be led by Jeff Hanes.
I look forward to worshiping with you this Sunday.
Yours in Christ,
Sunday evening at 6:30pm, we will be blessed to have the Rockingham Male Chorus in concert at Buckhall. Invite a friend and join us.
