Musical opportunities abound at Buckhall!
Being part of the adult choir at Buckhall is a joyous, spirit-led and fun experience. There is a deep and genuine warmth and caring for one another and our ministry. We sing songs from a range of genres - from classical to traditional to gospel to jazz to contemporary; from accompanied to a cappella.
Every Sunday, about 15 singers lead the congregational singing and present a musical message (our anthem) at both the 8:30am and 11:15am services. And during communion, we provide a musical backdrop for contemplation and reflection. We also present a Christmas/Advent cantata and special programs during Lent, Holy Week and Easter services.
Everyone is welcome in our choir. You do not need to read music or have a musical “ear”. Ours is a learning journey where together we learn and grow musically and spiritually so we can present our best offering to the Lord. Truly, the only requirement is that you love to sing and most especially love to sing about and for the Lord.
We practice Tuesday nights in the Sanctuary from 7 pm – 8:30 pm. We do have extra practices when we’re gearing up for special services or programs, such as Sundays at 10 am or an occasional extra weeknight or weekend practice. We willingly give our time and best efforts to honor and glorify God. Ask any choir member and they will tell you that they work hard – and they love it.
If this sounds interesting, please contact any member of the choir or the Church office. Or, better yet, come join us on a Tuesday night. Singing is what we love to do, and the more singers, the merrier!
A small children’s choir has presented songs during Advent and Christmas and at other special times during the past several years. If you have or know of children, between the ages of 2 and 12, who love to sing, please contact the Church office and let us know. We’re looking to grow our children’s music ministry.
Do you play guitar, flute, trumpet, sax, clarinet, violin, or even a cello? Are you a percussionist? If you have an instrument gathering dust in the attic, please consider getting it out and sharing your skills with Buckhall. Whether playing along with the hymns, for special services or adding extra interest to the adult choir’s anthems, your talents are wanted! Please contact the church office, a choir member, Don Frazier or Susan Hunter.
Your opportunity to contribute to Buckhall’s music ministry occurs each Sunday as you sing out loud, raising your voice in praise and thanksgiving. We also have regular opportunities to sing in the community – at nursing homes and assisted living facilities, in parades and other special local events. Consider lending your vocal support to these events as well in which not only voices but spirits get raised. To God be the Glory!
